34th State Senate District The 34th State Senate District spans Fairfax County, from Burke Centre to Colvin Run. The entirety of the Town of Vienna and City of Fairfax are located in the district. The 34th District is successor to the traditional State Senate seat for Fairfax and Loudoun counties. It was a rural seat for many years, while Fairfax and Loudoun were dominated by dairy farms. With northern Virginia’s rapid grown after World War II, the rural seat was divided into many suburban parts. Since that time, the 34th has been oriented around Fairfax City and central Fairfax County. After the 2001 redistricting, it was shifted north to encompass the Town of Vienna and precincts in Oakton. The 34th district is the home of George Mason University, the largest institution of higher education in Virginia, and the Fairfax County Courthouse, the largest judicial complex in Virginia. It also claims the Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts. Come visit us anytime. |
